What 2023 will bring for Chatham Dems
The Chatham Dems are an organization of registered Democrats who reside in the Town of Chatham. We work to elect Democrats to local, county, state, and national offices. We also participate in community events and initiatives to support civic involvement, build community, and provide resources to community members.
Here’s a list of our anticipated activities this year:
We’ll meet regularly:
To plan and organize events
To recruit and support candidates for office
To identify community event and needs where our members can be of assistance to improve life in the town through volunteer work, financial support, and community involvement.
This coming year, we anticipate sponsoring membership events to increase social activities and expand our membership so that we can have a greater impact on our community.
We’ll identify and support local leaders who can serve in local government. This year, we will hold a formal caucus to choose and endorse candidates for town offices.
We’ll send out a weekly newsletter to keep our membership up to date on local government news and events of interest. We are currently updating our website and our Facebook page.
We’ll sponsor spring and autumn highway cleanups of a 2-mile stretch of state route 66 between Crellin Park and Boice Road.
We’ll hold an Annual Chili Fest – which is an organizational fundraiser and Chatham Silent Food Pantry fundraiser.
We have 12 committee members on the Columbia County Democratic Committee and will continue to coordinate activities with them to elect Democrats to all levels of government.
We’ll sponsor voter registration drives in the community with other voter advocacy groups to educate residents about their right and responsibility to vote. We’ll also recruit Democrats to work at the polls during early voting and on Election Day.
We’ll encourage our members to participate in local government by attending and participating in town government: by attending town board meetings, participating in town board committees, and keeping up to date on town board activities.
