Democracy Hdqts -

WE ARE A RESOURCE FOR VOTING, CANVASSING, AND ALL SORTS OF VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES.

  • VOLUNTEER GREETERS  are scheduled to staff the Headquarters space and serve as resources to visitors, whether they come in for scheduled activities or on an impromptu basis. If you are interested, we have room in the schedule for additional greeters because there is so much to do. You can put together campaign materials in packets, work on postcards, distribute signs, and interact with the public. If you want to be scheduled with a more experienced greeter, just let us know. Contact ICNYCD@GMAIL.COM if you want to be a greeter. Training is available.

  • CANVASSING (knocking on doors) to introduce and talk about our candidates is underway every weekend until the election across Congressional District 19 for our candidate, Josh Riley.

We include materials for canvassers so that NYS Senator Michelle Hinchey, NYS Assembly District 106 incumbent Didi Barrett and / or  NYS Assembly District 107 candidate Chloe Pierce are featured as well.

We also need drivers to transport canvassers to homes in more rural areas.  We encourage canvassers to go out in pairs, whether walking door to door or driving door to door. Open this link to sign up for any weekend prior to the election.

  • LAWN SIGNS

You can pick up free lawn signs for Josh Riley, CD 19 candidate at Democracy Headquarters in Chatham or at the Hudson HQ at 7th and Warren Streets.

We appreciate a small donation to the headquarters’ kitty to defray costs for the space, postage, and other incidentals.

Lawn signs for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are only available for purchase with a credit card at the cost of $10.00 using this link. Once you sign up and pay, you will receive an email with instructions on pickup.

The system is up and running, so you can come into headquarters between 4 - 6 pm on weekdays, open the link and pay, wait a few minutes for a confirmation, and get your sign immediately.  It’s all very convenient!

  • POSTCARD WRITING

Bring your best, legible handwriting to our postcard group to spread the word about CD 19 candidate Josh Riley. Current postcards feature Riley with our Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris.

You can do postcard writing at headquarters or take them home to complete you packet.

Postcard writing at headquarters is typically scheduled every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5.

If you are interested in writing postcards but unable or not interested in staying at headquarters to do it, come into headquarters to speak to a greeter and get instructions.  We have great examples of short messages you can use, or you can write something original.

We always appreciate donations for postcard stamps, which currently cost $.57 apiece. Alternatively, you can stamp the postcards you complete at home, and put them directly into the mail / post office. A packet of 10 postcards will cost you $5.70 cents to send out.

Whatever you have done and can do in the days and weeks before the election,  it is appreciated! And more than that, it is essential at this moment and for this election.
