Chatham Dems meeting report
ICNY & Chatham Dems open office
A pre-election collaboration between Chatham Dems, ICNY, and the campaigns for CD 19 candidate Josh Riley, NYS Senatorial candidate Michelle Hinchey, and NYS Assembly candidate Didi Barrett unfolded earlier this month in the Village of Chatham.
Canvassing efforts are heading out to local households from the short-term campaign headquarters at 2 Main Street in the village of Chatham. The windows of the office face Park Row, and the entrance is at the back of the building on Park Row, near the Morris Memorial. Anyone interested in canvassing door to door, calling or texting re: any of these candidates, or getting campaign signs for their lawns can go to the headquarters for information on upcoming events.

Highway Cleanup
The second Route 66 Road Cleanup Day by Chatham Dems will take place this Sunday, October 16, from noon to 3 PM. All are invited to meet at the entrance loop at Crellin Park at noon for a basic training and orientation prior to the cleanup.
Candy Drive approved
Attendees at Monday’s meeting endorsed holding the annual Halloween candy donation to households on Kinderhook Street in the Village. Donations by town and village citizens support this annual event, and all contributions are appreciated. Bags of individually wrapped / unopened candy can be left in the container on the front porch at 100 Kinderhook Street.
Distribution to households will take place on Sunday, 10/30, from 1 – 2:30 at campaign headquarters in the building at the corner of Park Row and Main Street. Residents of Kinderhook Street can pick up donated candy with a flyer that will be left at each household on Friday 10/21 by Chatham Dem volunteers.
Town Board work reviewed
The group discussed current Town Board work, including efforts to research possible expansion and/or renovation of the Town Hall, the highway department’s garage in Old Chatham, and a new location for the Town Court.
A committee has been researching needs and potential solutions for town staff and departments, and is expected to present some information in coming weeks for the board’s consideration. Further discussions will cover specific recommendations, the need for changes, the feasibility of different proposals, and potential funding sources. Chatham Dems are urged to attend the Town Board meetings to keep up to speed on these proposals and to weigh in on their questions and opinions.
