Public Safety
The Town of Chatham benefits from coordination with private and government agencies to address a variety of issues that can affect public safety in the town. Citizens of Chatham have access to county services to address family violence, family financial need, substance abuse, mental illness concerns, and domestic violence. The town is served by several law enforcement agencies, rescue squads/ambulance services, and volunteer fire departments that coordinate to address crime, fire, traffic safety, emergency medical situations, weather emergencies, and situations where family and neighbor relations are at risk. The Chatham Democrats support these resources and encourage the town government to allocate sufficient funding to ensure they remain viable and available to preserve public safety in the town.
