Based on the New-York Historical Society’s 2018-19 exhibition of the same name, this virtual presentation explores Black Americans’ struggle for equality under the law from 1865 through World War I and highlights the central role played by African Americans in advocating for their rights. It also examines the depth and breadth of opposition to black advancement. Art, artifacts, photographs, and media will help visitors explore these transformative decades in American history, and understand their continuing relevance today.
Registration before Tuesday, February 15 at 6:00 pm is required.
