The practice of yoga has been shown to improve flexibility and range of motion, improve balance, support healthy joints by building muscle strength, enhance breathing, and promote mental calmness. Chair yoga creates a safe space for movement and balance, sitting and standing (using the chair for balance as needed). Participants are encouraged to use an armless chair on a non-skid surface, lightweight weights (such as water bottles or soup cans) and to wear comfortable loose clothing and sneakers, non-skid footwear, or barefeet.
Instructor Kathy Schneider-Doyle, MS, RN, AEA, RYT 200 has been a community health nurse for 43 years and an instructor in aquatics and yoga for over ten years.
