CANVASSING - PAST AND FUTURE

More than 50 volunteer canvassers worked to spread the word about the campaigns of CD-19 candidate Josh Riley and incumbent NYS Senator Michelle Hinchey last weekend in the Chatham / Ghent / Kinderhook communities. Volunteer canvassers included Eastern Massachusetts activists and Columbia County Democrats.

The NY Democrats, who organized the canvassing event out of Democracy Headquarters at 2 Park Row in Chatham, expect to be organizing similar events around the area. They provide all volunteers with turfs (lists of voters and maps to go door to door) and training, and ensure that people are organized and ready to interact with voters. Some volunteers chose to drive other volunteers to more rural areas, while others walked door to door in village and hamlet areas.

The general excitement and energy of those who showed up reflected a new found optimism and enthusiasm for the fall campaigns, and a commitment to get out the vote for our candidates.

There are so many ways to help with this effort. Stop in to Democracy Headquarters to see the options. There’s something for everyone!
