Nonpartisan Proposition 3 wins

The Community Preservation Plan, Community Preservation Fund, and the Real Estate Transfer Tax were approved by the Chatham Town Board through three local laws in the summer of 2023. Proposition 3 was put to the voters to approve or not the financing of the fund to implement these laws, that is, a 1.5% tax on the amount of the a purchase price over the county’s median home price, to be paid by the home buyer. Prop 3 passed by 1,201 to 516.
