Next steps in canvassing

Why does canvassing matter?

We want to highlight the important off-year election for Town Supervisor and for two Town Board seats that will occur in November 2023.  Our well-qualified candidates need to be introduced to voters and to have opportunities to talk about current town needs.

With personal contacts, we believe the voters of Chatham will support Chris Spencer, candidate for Town Supervisor, and our two Town Board candidates, Angus Eaton and John Wapner.

Our strategy is to get every registered Democrat in Chatham to vote for our candidates. We need many volunteers to accomplish this!

You can help!

We need  volunteers to go door to door with our candidates and/or with other volunteers. We also need volunteers who are willing to drive our candidates to the more rural areas of the town, to make door-to-door contacts more efficient. We welcome anyone who is willing to go through a short training to support our Democratic candidates with a gift of their time and energy. Volunteering is a great way to meet other Chatham Dems and make a difference in Chatham Town government!

Our efforts will focus on having our candidates and volunteers contact local voters at their homes. Our candidates will be listening to concerns and answering questions about local government issues. We will also be distributing campaign materials, securing contact information for future contacts with voters, and lining up town residents and voters who are willing to display our candidates’ lawn signs on their properties.

Contact information also will enable candidates to follow up on questions with voters, and will offer our weekly newsletter to those who do not yet receive it as a way to keep updated on Town of Chatham news and upcoming campaign events.

You can sign up to volunteer NOW by contacting our Volunteer Coordinator, Judi Matthews, at judi.m.matthews@gmail.com.
