Highway Cleanup

Getting ready for our first cleanup last spring

Q&A with Betsy Winters

Q: What happens in a highway cleanup?

A: We pick up all the trash on both sides of State Road 66 between Crellin Park and Boice Rd.

Q: Why do we do it?

A: We do this to help beautify Chatham. The Chatham Dems care about our town and how it looks. As an added bonus we get a sign on this stretch of road that says, "Road adopted by the Chatham Democrats.” This is an excellent visual reminder to all of what we stand for and of what we value: "Community."

Q: Who can help?

A: Anyone over the age of 18 can help. Anyone 12-18 must be supervised by a guardian and have parental permission.

Q: Where do I go on Oct 16?

A: We will gather at the entrance to Crellin Park at 12 noon. We will have a short training session. Your specific questions will be answered then.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: We provide hard hats, vests, garbage bags, water and long-handled grabbers. You should bring gloves and anything else you may want during the clean up.

Q: What's the 3 p.m. cake all about?

A: We are ending the work project at 3 p.m. at Crellin Park. We will meet in the front pavilion to share a birthday cake for Tom Ehrich's birthday.
