Comp Plan town meeting March 12
The second phase of the Comprehensive Plan Update Review will kick off with an in-person community meeting (also accessible online) on Saturday, March 12 from 2-4 p.m. at the Tri-Village Fire Company on County Route 13, in Old Chatham.
Results of the first phase, a town-wide survey, will be discussed, along with next steps to clarify and elaborate on identified needs. For survey results and an outline of the process of getting from survey to new zoning laws, click here.
The Town Board also:
Approved a protocol for citizen advisory committees focused on public comment guidelines. Additional changes suggested by council member Rick Werwaiss will be considered at a later meeting. Rick expressed concern about the uneven distribution of board members across committees and resulting limits on input.
The board heard from various citizen advisory committees, and voted to appoint new members to the Climate Smart Committee and the Finance and Planning committee. Check the town’s web site for additional committee openings.

Trail clearing at Old Pond in the Village of Chatham will be organized by Chatham Area Recreation Project on April 2, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The County Office of the Aging is looking for volunteer drivers to deliver Meals on Wheels to home-bound county residents. To volunteer, or to see the services offered by this agency, go to Columbia County Office for the Aging.
Covid testing kits are available at Town Hall during regular business hours. Supervisor Collins urged all residents to get vaccinated and boosted to prevent the spread of Covid-19, along with a higher risk of hospitalizations and death for unvaccinated individuals.
