Chili Fest

What is the Chili Fest? And why does it matter? Tom Ehrich, of the Communications Team, interviewed event planner Judi Matthews.

TOM: I joined Chatham Dems in 2019, just before the pandemic shut down events like the Chili Fest. What had the Chili Fest meant to Chatham Dems?

JUDI: The Chili Fest has been an annual event, usually held in March, to bring Dems together, taste some good chili and raise money for good causes.

TOM: I know Assemblyperson Didi Barrett will be attending this year. Have candidates always been a part of Chili Fest?

JUDI: Since this has traditionally been held in March, candidates were not always invited, but this year we are holding it in September before an important election, so we decided to invite local candidates.

TOM: Who makes the chili?

JUDI: Anyone can! Just sign up using the link below and you can show off your chili making skills! If chili isn’t your thing, there are lots of other options to help make this a success. A cash bar will also be open for the evening.

TOM: Do I need to make an advance reservation or just show up? Can I bring a friend?

JUDI: Just show up! We will have plenty of chili and other goodies. Bring a friend and introduce them to Chatham Dems!

TOM: How are funds raised at this event used?

JUDI: We always accept donations to Chatham Democrats to help with our election and ongoing expenses. $20 is requested, but any amount is appreciated. We will have an additional collection for the Chatham Area Silent Pantry – checks or cash are accepted, and any amount will help with the good work they do feeding the community.

JUDI: Thanks for the great questions and I hope to see everyone there!
