Chatham Dems Meeting Recap

Monday’s meeting of Chatham Dems was devoted to hearing from state assembly candidate, incumbent Didi Barrett, of Claverack.

Recent redistricting in New York State puts Chatham (outside. the Village) in Barrett’s district.

She spoke about her work on several key committees: agriculture, veterans affairs, environmental, arts and tourism. She spoke about her work on preserving reproductive choice and reducing gun violence.

Barrett responded to many questions about her six terms as an assembly member, as well as her views on what lies ahead for the state.

In other business: Dems got updates on candidate appearances in Chatham, including a July 26 meet-the-candidate event for Congressional candidate Josh Riley. His opponent in the primary, Jamie Cheney, had her meet-the-candidate event here earlier in the spring.
