Angus Eaton’s 11 principles

When it came his turn to address the Chatham Dems picnic last Sunday, Angus Eaton shared some work principles that guided his life and are necessary for Chatham.

  1. Be pragmatic, not dogmatic.

  2. Seek good advice.

  3. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

  4. Practice patience and persistence.

  5. Practice “we,” not “me.”

  6. Deescalate conflict.

  7. Recognize that with responsibility comes authority.

  8. Don’t assume malice when there is another reasonable explanation.

  9. Put neighbors’ interests ahead of political interests.

  10. Recognize that, at the end of the day, we are all neighbors.

  11. Make it fun.
